 Sunil was an engineer on a cruise ship from San Francisco to the Hawaiian Islands. After leaving the port of San Francisco , he used to return from the Hawaiian Islands about 18 days later . From San Francisco in Hawaii , his ship returned to San Francisco via Healo , Honolulu , Maui and Kawaii . This time he went on a cruise to Hawaii in the last week of December. On the night of 30 December, he left the engine room after finishing his duty and sat down on the deck near Bo (the front part of the ship) to enjoy the fresh air for some time. Well this place was his favorite place. Often on moonlit nights, he would sit here and look at the sky for some time and gaze at the twinkling stars. But that night there was no moonlight, the night was dark, yet he was sitting on the bow enjoying the clean environment away from pollution. There was calmer than the noise of the engine room. The slightest sound was that of the ship breaking through the water, although he liked this sound.
