In the days when the wells were full and there was no water crossing in the canal-bombs, the whole village would cultivate paddy. She, along with her young husband, Lal Singh, used to do water and mud in a field full of dhoti and harvested it when the crop was ripe. The domestic animals included a pair of bullocks, a buffalo and a cow. The buffalo was given by his father and the cow was already there. On the same day, when recruitment in the army opened, Lal Singh went to try his luck with other youths of the village.
