The most beautiful country in the country is Punjab. The land of five waters. The land of gurus and pirs. Kotkapura is in the border area of this Punjab. Kotkapura is a large village-like town in Punjab, in which Nawab Kapoor Khan's built Kot i.e. fort still exists and gives meaning to its name. Since time immemorial it has been a market for the Mughals. Mohkalpur is situated at a distance of thirteen kilometers from this Kotkapura, a city inhabited by a Mohkal Singh Raja, which today people call Faridkot in the name of Sufi saint Baba Farid. In the very middle of this thirteen kilometer, seven kilometers from Kotkapura and about six kilometers from Faridkot, there is a village Sandhwan, which may have been settled by the Sandhu Jats. Now about fifty houses live here, in which people of all castes are included. Nowadays the fame of this village is due to the fact that the President of India, Giani Zail Singh was from this village. His descendants still live in this village. His house is called the house of Gullighas. There is a sugar mill in the village. There are four or five cotton and cottonseed separate factories. There is also a government factory for making cotton from cotton. There is a brick kiln outside the village. There is also a number of high schools where attendance is taken only in the registers. Otherwise the children of this village either do not go to school, they go to bathe the buffaloes throughout the day.
